Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cold butter cubed
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg beaten
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 fl. ounce red food color
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar plus more for rolling
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 350ᵒF.
- On a sheet of wax paper combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir and set aside.
- In a bowl with an electric mixer, beat cold butter at high speed until smooth about 1 minute, beat in sugar and brown sugar for 3 minutes. Beat in egg, vanilla and red food color until well blended. Beat in the flour mixture to form a soft dough.
- With a 1 tablespoon cookie scoop, scoop the dough and shape into balls. Roll balls in powdered sugar; Place 2 inches apart on a baking sheet; bake 10 minutes.
- Cool for 5 minutes; transfer cookies to wire racks to cool completely.
